S. Cassiana Maria Vogt (1883-1944) was born in Ste. Genevieve Missouri. She studied art at the Art Institute in Chicago. She taught art at St. Joseph’s Academy in Green Bay Wisconsin. During summers she developed her technique with other artists at the Ste. Genevieve Art Colony. Among its members were Thomas Hart Benton and Joe Jones. At the Motherhouse her massive 5 panel mural depicts the ministries of the Sisters as they observed their centenary of their arrival at Carondelet.
